High School Football kicks off on #RoadToGlory with high scores on FOX Sports Ohio

On Thursday, Aug. 23, FOX Sports Ohio’s high school football season kicked off with a bang when the Akron Buchtel Griffins played the Massillon Tigers at Massillon’s Paul Brown Stadium.
·        Peaking at a 1.7 HH rating, the live game was the highest rated high school football game ever on FOX Sports Ohio in the Cleveland DMA.
·        The live online stream of the game delivered a 40% increase of viewers on FOXSportsOhio.com.
·        The game also aired nationally on FOX Sports Net, and the telecast was able to engage viewers from all over the country by integrating Twitter.
High Rating
The live game garnered at 1.3 HH rating in Cleveland, making it the highest rated high school game ever on FOX Sports Ohio in the Cleveland DMA.
·        Replays of the game pulled higher ratings than the 2007, 2008, and 2009 average season rating for those years.
·        FOX Sports Ohio’s rating topped other DMA TV outlets that carried high school football games by 1,000%.
Online Viewers
Fans could also log onto FOXSportsOhio.com to watch the game online. This first game saw a 40% increase in online views compared to last year’s game one.
Integrating Twitter – highlights national distribution
As the National Game of the Week, viewers from all over the country engaged in Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RoadToGlory. Throughout the telecast, FOX Sports Ohio reminded fans to tweet the network @FOXSportsOH with #RoadToGlory, and various tweets were featured and discussed. Fans attending the game also could participate and were informed of the Twitter conversation via signs used by cheerleaders.

·        Approx. 100 tweets came through during the game
·        FOX Sports Ohio gained about 40-50 new Twitter followers
·        Saw tweets from viewers from all over Ohio as well as New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, New York, West Virginia, Minnesota, Georgia, Michigan, and Texas.
