It may not be London, but Milwaukee is home to plenty of Olympic coverage…Special Olympics coverage. With the promotion of Special Olympics Wisconsin across multiple platforms and energetic involvement from employees in Milwaukee, FOX Sports Wisconsin’s partnership with SOWI deserves a gold medal.

What: Polar Plunge participants jump into a freezing cold body of water in the middle of the Wisconsin winter to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

- Marketing/Social Media: Ran PSAs and custom promos about events taking place across the state. Multiple posts on Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness.
Participation:
- For the past two years, FOX Sports Wisconsin employees created a team and raised money by jumping, WATCH
Summer Games
What: The Special Olympics Summer Games provide athletes with the opportunity to train and compete at local levels in swimming, track, soccer, football and other summer sports.
Promotion:
Production: A SOWI athlete was a special guest on Brewers Live, serving as a spokesperson for the Summer Games - Marketing/Social media: Ran PSAs for 40th anniversary of the annual event. Multiple posts on Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness.
Participation:
- For the past three Summer Games, FOX Sports Wisconsin employees hosted a table at the event and have been in attendance to cheer on athletes.
Over the Edge
Partipation:
A Milwaukee employee, Katie Mangin is currently taking online courses and the appropriate training to become more involved with SOWI. She will be coaching a SMWI volleyball team this fall.
What: The Ultimate Lambeau Leap provides supporters the chance to rappel down legendary Lambeau Field to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Other "Over the Edge" events also take place in Milwaukee and Madison.
Promotion:
- Marketing/Social media: Ran PSAs promoting the events taking place across the state, encouraging participation and donations. Multiple posts on Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness
Partipation: - FSWisconsin employees have taken part in the dramatic fundraiser for the past three years: Jodi Mittelstaedt, Katie Mangin and Laurie Perrigo Elliott have rappelled down the side of a tall building for the cause.
