FOXSportsFlorida.com Records Second Busiest Traffic Day in Site History

 

  • May Day: Powered by local and national writer coverage of the Miami HEAT’s eventful game 2 victory over the New York Knicks, FOXSportsFlorida.com began the month of May in record setting fashion.
  • Headlines included HEAT / Knicks fire extinguisher fall out, Chris Bosh “video bombing” LeBron interview, a new college mascot and a roller-coaster day for the Tampa Bay Rays.
  • Approximately 800,000 unique visitors in one day, which is more than half of the 1.44 million unique’s recorded through the entire month of May last year.

    With five of six team partners playing through late April, FOXSportsFlorida.com served as the hub of Florida sports coverage building up momentum for a milestone Monday. The noteworthy traffic surge on May 1, 2012, showcased the reach, value and growth of FOX Sports Florida since launching the dot com in 2009.

      • National writer Bill Reiter’s article touched on the late breaking fire extinguisher gate that occurred following the game when Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire sliced his hand out of frustration on a nearby glass encased extinguisher.
      • Became FOXSportsFlorida.com’s second most viewed article ever recording more than 855,000 page views.



      • The story behind any good story these days? Going viral. When HEAT forward Chris Bosh “video bombed” LeBron James’ postgame interview on Sun Sports, he effectively played into the hands of the internet. A retweet from @SunSportsFOXFL set the silliness in motion on twitter.
      • In one day, the video garnered 19,105 views and generated impressions for FOX Sports and Sun Sports’ HEAT telecasts by going viral.

      • The American League East leading Tampa Bay Rays had an up-and-down day on Monday. The good news? The Rays signed Hideki Matsui. The bad news? Star third baseman Evan Longoria was diagnosed was a partially torn hamstring and will be out 4 to 8 weeks. 
      •  FOX Sports Florida writer Dave Scheiber recapped all the action in a massive article encompassing video and related Rays content.

    •  FSU adds new ambassador to its stables
      • FOX Sports Florida writer Bob Ferrante wrote a summary announcing FSU's newest mascot: Cimarron. The mascot (pictured above) generated traffic for the website as fans from all across the state came together to opine on Florida State's newest steed.
      • Cimarron was a hot topic on twitter and coverage of Florida State University was ramped up with a strong feature on FSU's budget shortfall.

    With the Orlando Magic battling through the first round of the NBA playoffs, Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins in full swing and the HEAT poised to bring home their first NBA Title since 2006, FOXSportsFlorida.com is looking forward to an action packed summer.
