* A game date is set months in advance with American Forces Network, DVIDS and the Public Affairs offices from Missouri National Guard and Fort Leonard Wood.
* A live feed from Afghanistan. Taped greetings from troops. Live interviews in the stands. The production team and talent weaved in these elements while capturing every pitch of an extra-inning Cardinals game and producing unique pre and postgame shows.
Director Tom Mee: "Not a single telecast throughout the season has as many elements in it as this show does..I'm emotionally spent."* FOX Sports Midwest offered a soldier deployed in Afghanistan a chance to surprise his girlfriend the night of This One’s For You. The result was memorable.
* FOX Sports Midwest controlled the plans and set the surprise. Production, Web and PR coordinated and pounced, with writers and photographers ready to post story, photos and video on FOXSportsMidwest.com. The story was elevated to FOXSports.com and MSN. Video and stories were seeded with local TV stations KTVI and KSDK and nationally on FOX Saturday Baseball, MLB Network, SI.com, MLB.com and Huffington Post.
* The proposal video has received more than 214,000 views, making it the most-viewed video ever on FOXSportsMidwest.com.
* Social media buzzed. FOX Sports Midwest solicited Twitter greetings, which the truck scrolled on screen throughout the game. The hashtag, #ThisOnesForYou, was part of a custom on-screen bug. The Cardinals supported This One's For You on Facebook and Twitter; a photo they posted of the proposal received 40,000 likes – the most likes for any post by the team this season.
* FOX Sports Midwest was the highest-rated channel in prime time, more than doubling its closest competitor.
