Living up to the old adage that “everything’s bigger in Texas,” FOX Sports Southwest pulled out all the stops to make its recent coverage of the Texas High School football state championships from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington an overwhelming success.
For the second consecutive year, all University Interscholastic League (UIL) title games were played in the state’s biggest venue, allowing FOX Sports Southwest to once again provide wall-to-wall live television coverage of the football festival celebrating Texas High School football.

FOX Sports Southwest televised tripleheaders over three days, highlighted by the first ever high school football telecast to incorporate the Skycam system traditionally used to enhance television coverage of NFL and NCAA football.
The wire-flown camera captured dynamic overhead video and added to the other production enhancements FOX Sports Southwest broke out for its coverage like the virtual 1st & Ten Line and super slow-motion replays.
UIL Championship Week programming included studio shows between games and halftime shows that integrated Social Media questions from viewers via Twitter and Facebook.
A special #UILonFOX Twitter hashtag was created to monitor and own the social conversation throughout the week.

The final two televised games, which featured nationally-ranked teams from Houston and Dallas, easily outdrew the Grizzlies-Rockets NBA game that day on Comcast Sports Net Houston and rivaled FSSW’s Dallas Mavericks ratings.

The 5A Division II championship scored a 2.37 rating in Houston and 1.61 in Dallas-Fort Worth, while the 5A Division I title game produced a 2.56 in DFW and 1.76 in Houston. By comparison, the Rockets game that day on CSN Houston averaged a 0.88 rating.

The FOX Sports Southwest Girls used their strong social following of over 100,000 Facebook likes and close to 10,000 Twitter followers to engage fans and spread the word on the network's state championship coverage.
