This is the fourth year the Minnesota sports community has come together to provide the ‘Home Team Scholarship’ to each of the Youth of the Year finalists. The scholarships provide financial resources to students to aid them in achieving their dream of a post-secondary education.
The Home Team Scholarship fund is distributed based on “need” and designed to provide the Youth of the Year winners with funding that will accompany him/her through at least four years of school. Each of the remaining finalists receive a one-thousand grant.
The Boys and Girls Club’s National Youth of the Year Program is designed to promote and recognize service to Club and community, academic performance, contributions to family, as well as any personal challenges and obstacles overcome.
“We want to demonstrate to all the club kids how much the sports community cares about them and their future,” said Mike Dimond, Senior Vice President and General Manager of FOX Sports North and board member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.  “We hope our efforts emphasize how important it is to make a positive impact on the life of a child.”
