FOX Sports Ohio provides "Career Days" for local youth

Earlier this year, FOX Sports Ohio supported regional nonprofits MyCom and Columbus After-School All-Stars by hosting their students and teaching them about the network and careers in the sports broadcasting industry.

Cleveland's MyMedia participants enjoyed
their visit to the FOX Sports Ohio studio.
Coordinated by MyCom, a nonprofit organization focused on youth development, MyMedia is a program which engages high school students as reporters and exposes them to a variety of communication mediums: blog, podcast, television, video, writing, presentations, etc.
During the FOX Sports Ohio Career Day, the MyMedia students toured our offices and studio and spoke to our production crew about various job opportunities in TV production.

"Thank you and your team for taking the time out tonight w/ the MyMedia students. I had a chance to speak to most of the students when they returned and they were elated w/ the tour.  One of the students is even considering changing his profession after meeting and talking with you this evening."
Kailyne R. Waters
Project Manager, MyMedia

The group had the chance to visit with Senior Vice President and General Manager, Henry Ford and learn about running a regional sports network. They also had the chance to hear from Cavaliers broadcasters Campy Russell and Dionne Miller, who cohost Cavaliers Live Pregame show.

Columbus After-School All-Stars, an organization that provides free, quality comprehensive after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and in life.

"We can't thank you and your team enough for such an AMAZING visit last Friday! The kids had nothing but great things to say about the tour and the game - several of them begged us to stay longer!  Getting our students fully engaged in an experience isn't always the easiest thing to do - your team definitely accomplished that!  Thank you for making such a unique opportunity possible!"

Sienna Daniel
Director of Operations, Columbus After-School All-Stars

Their students' tour, led by Quicken Loans Arena’s Dave Dombrowski, covered areas of The Q such as: the QTV control room and the FS Ohio production truck. After the tour, the students stayed to watch the Cavaliers’ victory against the Detroit Pistons!
