FOX Sports Wisconsin & FOX Sports North: Freezin’ for a Reason

In the heart of the Midwest winter, FOX Sports employees and supporters made a splash at this year’s Special Olympics Polar Plunge. 
The frigid waters didn’t stop the teams of FOX Sports Wisconsin and FOX Sports North from showing their avid support. They jumped into a frozen body of water, all to raise awareness and monetary support for a very important cause. 

As part of the“Supports” community platform, the regional networks created multi-media campaigns designed to raise awareness for Special Olympics, while also driving participation for their annual marquee fundraising event – the Polar Plunge.

The FOX Sports Wisconsin team took the plunge on February 23 in Green Bay and FOX Sports North followed on March 2 in Minneapolis. Both teams combined, raised nearly $6,000 in donations.

FOX Sports Wisconsin

The team of 20 included social media reporter Sophia Minnaert, the FOX Sports Wisconsin Girls as well as employees, friends and family.

The team plunged at “The Watering Hole” in Green Bay and raised nearly $3,000 for Special Olympics Wisconsin. WATCH

As part of a multi-media campaign, FOX Sports Wisconsin drove awareness via customized promos, pregame exposure and web/social media support.

FOX Sports North

The FOX Sports North Girls along with on-air talent Ben Clymer and Jamie Hersch led the way as the FOX Sports North team of 30 plunged into Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. WATCH

The team raised nearly $3,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota, and generated PR for the organization through a three month long “Supports” campaign.

On site, the FOX Sports North Girls served as emcees to the thousands of people in attendance. Jenny served as emcee for the main plunge hole and Kaylin and Angie emceed the “PeeWee Plunge” costume contest.
