Rangers Bloggers Click With Fox's Game Connect App

FOX Sports Southwest recently invited a group of bloggers to a Texas Rangers game to participate in a special Game Connect  themed telecast.

Bloggers were asked to take the second-screen interactive platform for a test drive during the game and offer their feedback. Some even appeared on the telecast.

Prior to the game, bloggers received a Game Connect tutorial in the FS Southwest suite by FOX RSN Director of Product and Technology Mike Conley.

FOX Sports Southwest integrated Game Connect into the telecast with several in-game interviews from the suite and heavy promotion throughout the evening encouraging fan participation.

Record Night
Game Connect Night resonated with viewers. Fox Sports Southwest set a record for Game Connect web traffic, topping the previous mark set on Opening Day by 250%. Fan engagement was 7,000% better than the previous week.

Blogger Endorsements
"Fox Sports Southwest clearly cares greatly about providing viewers with an additional vehicle with which they can enjoy a baseball game. . . . If you haven’t tried it yet, Game Connect is like a more evolved version of the MLB Gameday, or ESPN Gamecast tools. The difference with Game Connect is that it is not intended to be a substitute for the baseball game you are watching, but instead to be a companion to that game."
 – Peter Ellwood, Shutdown Inning

"Overall I feel like Game Connect is something that every fan, writer, blogger, etc. should check out. I know that I will be using it more often especially with my writing. No more tweeting while digging through stats. I can now do everything at once . . . And with all of its bells and whistles it is surprisingly easy to navigate."
– James Holland, Claw and Antler Nation

"It’s an impressive, smart, ambitious, jam-packed baseball sensory overload for people who embrace baseball sensory overload. . . . The information you’d typically pull up in three or four sites during a ballgame to grab is all in one place, visualized in better ways and allowing you to dig two or three levels beneath the surface on any given at-bat, in real time."
 – Jamey Newberg, The Newberg Report

"I'd encourage you to check out Game Connect. . . There's a whole bunch of stuff to play with there, such as sending questions to the booth and incorporating Twitter and other social media inputs into a feed, as well as real-time stats, ongoing pitch counts, matchup information, and the like."

"Ask the Broadcast"
FS Southwest Rangers announcers Steve Busby and Tom Grieve answered fan questions submitted via Game Connect throughout the telecast.
