Surprise On-Court Marriage Proposal Becomes Most-Viewed Video Ever for FOX Sports Local

When Texas State’s Sports Information Office began searching for a media outlet to cover women’s basketball guard Kelsey Krupa’s surprise wedding proposal before a recent game, they turned to FOX Sports Southwest. It proved to be a wise choice. Video of the on-court proposal and a story posted on FoxSportsSouthwest.com and elevated to MSN garnered national attention for the school and a record 1.6 million video views.



The engagement ring presentation by Krupa’s boyfriend kicked off “March Madness” on FOX Sports Southwest that featured 48 high school and college basketball tournament webcasts and live television coverage of Texas and Oklahoma high school boy’s and girl’s state championship games.   

Surprise Wedding Proposal
FOX Sports Southwest immediately jumped at the opportunity to cover the special occasion when it was approached by Texas State. Correspondent Keith Whitmire was assigned to write a feature that included video supplied by the University. When the story was picked up by MSN, it resulted in an amazing 1.6 million video views, the most ever for a FOX Sports local website.

H.S. Basketball Webcasts
Over a two-week period, FoxSportsSouthwest.com streamed 38 Texas boys and girls basketball state tournament games and state tournament games from OklahomaFoxSportsHouston.com also webcast games from the Texas state tournament. 



College Basketball Webcasts
As part of its new programming agreement with the Lone Star Conference, FOX Sports Southwest also streamed 14 games in three days from the Conference’s tournament, including the men’s and women’s title games.



Social Media
FOX Sports Southwest used Twitter and Facebook platforms to create awareness and drive fans to the webcasts. Tweets were sent prior to each webcast and schedules were posted on Facebook.
