FOX Sports Detroit hosted a pumpkin carving contest on FOXSportsDetroit.com in October. We invited fans to submit photos of their Detroit sports carved pumpkins for three prizes - grand prize: two suite tickets to a Pistons game, second place: a signed Pistons jersey and third place: a signed Chris Osgood hockey stick.
We used some of the submissions to promote the contest on social media through both the station and the girls platforms. The submission photo gallery received 12,117 page views. The sweepstakes page received 1,713 page views.
Once the judging panel selected their top five, we opened up three days of fan voting where 339 votes were cast.
In addition, the FOX Sports Detroit Girls carved pumpkins with a local pumpkin carver Tom Nardone, who has been on Conan, The Travel Channel, Good Morning America, The History Channel and MTV. Click here to watch the clip with the girls.
The fans voted these as the winners:

2ND PLACE: A made in Detroit carving with Al the Octopus by Tom B. of Canton, MI.
3RD PLACE: The Red Wings classic winged wheel by Matt N. of Auburn Hills, MI.
