On Tuesday, November 13, FOX Sports Florida and the Orlando Magic partnered to host the first Social Media Night of the season. The broadcast
served as the official in-game launch for the newly minted Magic Live Rewards program, which rewards fans of the team and broadcast by allocating points for tweeting, using Facebook, checking in on Get Glue and Four Square, and more.
The Magic Live Rewards program was launched with a feature in the pregame portion of the broadcast featuring FOX Sports Florida Magic host Megan Clementi and FOX Sports Florida Girl Annilie.
In addition to the pregame feature, the Social Media Night featured several elements, which FOX Sports Florida Magic host Dante Marchitelli introduced to viewers prior to tip.
Highlighted by a shared in-game chat with Orlando Magic legend Nick Anderson that was hosted on FOXSportsFlorida.com and OrlandoMagic.com, the night was powered on twitter with two designated hashtags.
Over the course of a 24 hour period, #TweetMagic and #MagicLiveRewards were tweeted more than 4,600 times combined. Usage surged during the broadcast, with an additional spike the following morning thanks to new users who had signed up to earn points via Magic Live Rewards.
Additionally, the social media centered broadcast between the Magic and New York Knicks concluded as the highest rated game of the season on FOX Sports Florida.
After nearly two weeks in the market, research states the Magic Live Rewards program has tallied 50,000 impressions on Facebook and a whopping 21,000,000 on twitter. FOX Sports Florida is looking forward to building upon the program not only with new features, but also, with additional social media focused broadcasts throughout the season.
