As part of its terrific partnership with the Detroit Tigers, FOX Sports Detroit was one one of two sponsors for the team's 2011 Winter Caravan on Jan. 20-21, featuring an featured an exciting lineup of appearances in Detroit and around the state of Michigan.
FOX Sports Detroit broadcasters Mario Impemba and Rod Allen joined Tigers executives, manager Jim Leyland, coaches, players, and team mascot PAWS in a two-day journey traveling in two buses (adorned with the FS Detroit logo) across the region, spreading baseball fever to fans of all ages.
The Winter Caravan was a component of the strong relationship between the network and the team. It also generated a variety of web content for Tigers fans who visited Foxsportsdetroit.com; resulted in residual exposure from other media outlets; afforded insider access for key sponsor contacts; and presented community outreach opportunities:

Foxsportsdetroit.com provided extensive coverage of the Caravan in a variety of ways including news stories, video features, an exclusive web interview with Tigers stars Justin Verlander and Austin Jackson and a photo gallery. Impemba, the network's play-by-play announcer for Tigers telecasts, provided Twitter posts from various stops and wrote a Caravan recap in a website blog post.
Note: The Winter Caravan was just one of many popular topics on Foxsportsdetroit.com in January, a record-setting month in which the website totaled 1.43 million page views and 840,000 unique visitors.
