Tampa Bay Rays Broadcast Auction Raises Eight Year Record

Another year. Another record.
Two weeks ago, FOX's Sun Sports hosted the 8th annual Tampa Bay Rays Broadcast Auction.

The FOX Sports Florida Girls were on hand encouraging viewers to bid on unique items and baseball experiences, and with all proceeds benefiting the Tampa General Hospital Foundation and Rays Baseball Foundation, a record amount was raised once bids were tallied.

With bid items ranging from pitching lessons with reigning American League Cy Young winner David Price, to a 2013 MLB All-Star game package, the auction raised approximately $89,816.


“Each year we look forward to raising money to support so many worthy causes through the Rays Baseball Foundation,” said Larry McCabe, Tampa Bay Rays Senior Director of Broadcasting. " On behalf of the Rays, our sincere thanks to our partner FOX’s Sun Sports for another successful broadcast auction and helping us make a difference to those in need within our community.”

In addition to digital OOH, in-game drops and real-time social media exposure, the FOX Sports Florida Girls stepped their game up for the cause. While on-air, the girls offered to attend one of the bid items up for grabs by the team: a viewing party at Tropicana Field. The party at the Trop item went for $8,100.
