FOX Sports Florida & Sun Sports Honors Two Special Soldiers

Just in time for the holidays, FOX Sports Florida/Sun Sports made one recent Magic game very special for fans Lauren & Derek O’Neill – two members of the U.S. military, just home from Iraq & Afghanistan on a two-week holiday furlough to get married. They will deploy back overseas in early January.

FOX Sports Florida/Sun Sports learned of Lauren & Derek’s unique story and quickly sprung into action to ensure these two NBA fans and newly-married members of the U.S. armed forces would have a once-in-a-lifetime experience before returning to action overseas (and apart).

Working with team partner, the Orlando Magic, FOX Sports Florida/Sun Sports surprised Lauren and Derek with courtside seats at a Magic game.  The Magic selected them as their “Fans of the Game” and Sun Sports’ Magic host Paul Kennedy interviewed the couple at halftime with a special presentation from Sr. VP/GM Steve Tello.

FOXSportsFlorida.com posted a terrific story, video and photos, the network’s Twitter followers responded to the halftime interview with appreciation, and the Orlando Sentinel posted a story online, which was linked to on USAToday.com.
